Timeline of events leading up to the larp
The present day is April 1645. Note that not all of these events are public knowledge.
22 years ago – ‘Old SIr John’, the previous squire, dies, and Sir John inherits.
21 years ago – Charity’s mother Jane accidentally drowns in a pond near the village.
20 years ago – Nathaniel’s wife Bridget dies.
About 19 years ago – Charity becomes pregnant with Magdalen, leaves service at the Manor, and marries Peter.
18 years ago – Andrew becomes rector of St Margaret’s.
About 15 years ago – Luke’s parents die, cursed by a crone. He is taken in by Andrew as ward.
10 years ago – Isabell’s husband Edward dies, falling from his horse.
Eight years ago – Isaac marries Meriall and settles in High Verley.
Seven years ago – Samson Thaxted is born.
A year and half ago – Sir John’s first wife, Lady Dorothy, dies in childbirth.
A year ago – Rose takes employment with the Maldons.
About ten months ago – Thomasin and Rose travel to Harwich and are recruited by Matthew Hopkins.
Eight months ago – Luke completes his studies, is ordained, and joins the Parliamentary army.
Six months ago – Magdalen discovers John and Barnard together. Magdalen takes employment at the Manor.
Six months ago – Jennet’s husband Humphrey and daughter Ellen die.
Six months ago – Barnard leaves for the army.
Six months ago – Sir John marries Katherine. Magdalen becomes Katherine’s maid.
Five months ago – Luke is injured at the Second Battle of Newbury, and returns to High Verley.
Five months ago – Jennet starts taking in washing and receiving charity.
Four months ago – Cicely starts to assist Meriall.
Three months ago – Samson falls sick.
Two months ago – Katherine miscarries.
A month ago – Meriall petitions Andrew to call in Matthew Hopkins.
Two weeks ago – Nathaniell recruits Peter as informer.
In a month or so – Anne is to marry Sir Roger Caton, of Cow Green.
