We don't want costume to be prohibitive for anyone, so the only costume requirement is that you wear neutral colours: white, brown or black. We will provide headwear which will represent your character's gender and status.
Even if you have period-appropriate clothing that would work for your character in the 1645 setting, we request that you should not wear it. The reason is that we feel it will create a better atmosphere if everyone is in nondescript clothing, rather than having some in period costume and some not. Particularly as quite a few people will be playing a gender other than their own, we want to reduce any feeling of a pressure towards 'authentic' physical representation.
We do appreciate that costume is an important part of role, and of larp in general, for many people: sorry about that. We feel that for this larp though it's going to be valuable for the group as a whole to avoid it. We will aim to together find other good things in the experience that will make up for the lack of it.
There are direct trains from London Fenchurch Street and Liverpool Street to Westcliff, which take about an hour. A super off-peak day return costs £14.70. There is also a car park.
Both the station and the car park are a 10 minute walk from the venue.
